Grade 9; Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute
I am from soil, from water
I am from ruff ends, the
Shoe box in the corner full of memories.
I am from the carnations (pure love, love of another, disappointment, innocence), the Aster (love of variety, elegance, daintiness)
I am from the athaan and compassion
From Mustafa, and the ignorance and foldedness of Habib and Tahmina.
I am from fights
And happy vacations.
From the babaloo.
I am from Allah
The compassionate, the merciful.
I’m from Canada and Afghanistan
From the waterfall falling
I am from the ruins of war
I am exuberant. I am
I AM ME.
