Vahan Kololian

Chair

Vahan is a Toronto-based financier and entrepreneur, and the founder and managing partner of TerraNova Partners, an investment partnership. Vahan’s business career of over 25 years includes investment banking and turnaround management in both Canada and the U.S. Vahan and his wife Susie are active supporters of community projects centred on health, education and the arts. Vahan co-founded the Mosaic Institute with Dr. Alidad Mafinezam in 2007.

In June 2012 Vahan was honored as a Pioneer For Change by Skills For Change.

Debra Campbell

Debra is an experienced nonprofit leader. As a nonprofit professional, Debra was Director of National Grants at SickKids Foundation, leading a pediatric research grants program. She also developed and led innovative national grants programs as Director of Collaborative Funds at Canadian Women’s Foundation. Debra has over 30 years cumulative experience as a nonprofit board member in diverse nonprofits, including United Way Toronto, Upper Canada College and The New Israel Fund of Canada. She currently co-chairs the board of Canadian Art Foundation, and serves as a director of the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery and the Koffler Centre of the Arts. Debra is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College (Bronxville, New York) and holds degrees in Civil and Common Law from McGill University.

Yusra Siddiquee

Yusra Siddiquee is a partner at the law firm of Norton Rose Fulbright.  She leads the business immigration and international mobility team in the Toronto office. Her practice is not limited to Canada, as she is experienced in facilitating visas and permits to global destinations.

Yusra was a founder of the Canadian Muslim Lawyers Association in 1996.  She served as Chair for several years, during which time she made extensive representations to federal, provincial and municipal governments on issues related to civil liberties, security certificates and issues related to freedom of religion. She appeared in front of parliamentary subcommittees and spoke at conferences on civic engagement. She was appointed to the Cross-Cultural Roundtable on Security by the federal government on which she served for three years.

Yusra obtained her LL.B. from the University of British Columbia in 1994 and her B.A.(Hons) in Political Science from McGill University in 1991. She speaks English, French, Urdu and Hindi.

Dundee Staunton

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Dundee is Chairman of Taylor & Grant Specialties which merged in 2011 with Chocolate Inn of Freeport, New York to form the largest confectionary supplier to the promotional marketplace in North America. During his career, Dundee has managed and owned several manufacturing companies serving a variety of industries. He has been a director of a number of public and private firms, and he is currently on the boards of not-for-profit entities, including Innovators Alliance. Dundee is a graduate of the University of Toronto (BSc.) and York University (MBA).

Kathleen Vesely

OFFICER (SECRETARY OF THE CORPORATION)

Kathleen is a co-founder and Partner of TerraNova Partners LP, focusing on administration and accounting for the partnership and its associated companies. Kathleen has over 25 years of experience in managing various investment businesses, having previously spent 10 years with Polar Capital and 7 years with Helix Investments Limited.

M.W. (Peggy) Bennett, B. Comm. CPA, CA

OFFICER (TREASURER)

Peggy is an experienced CPA  who services a wide range of clients, many of whom are involved in the venture capital and financial   services industry. Ms. Bennett obtained her CA in 1979 and worked for Deloitte & Touche LP, as a tax manager until 1990.  She then left Deloitte to open her own accounting practice, where she has provided accounting and tax services to small business for over 20 years. Ms. Bennett has served as CFO for a number of companies, and sits on the Board of Directors for SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment, a leading provider of high-quality simulation experiences with over 150 theatres worldwide. She also provides investigative services to the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario and acts as an expert witness for professional discipline cases heard by the CPAO.
