On Wednesday September 30th a working group from the “Humanity Wins” Committee got together to discuss how best to help Canada move forward on the Syrian Refugee crisis.
At the meeting, from right to left, were:
- Ron Atkey, Chair of Humanity Wins former Minister of immigration and Citizenship and former Chair of the Security Intelligence Review Committee (SIRC)
- Sarkis Assadourian, Three term Federal member of Parliament
- Norman Inkster, OC, 18th Commissioner of the RCMP and past president of Interpol
- Bernie M Farber, Executive Director of the Mosaic Institute
As the Syrian Refugee crisis continues the #HumanityWins committee is more determined than ever to move the Canadian agenda forward and help expedite the entry of desperate refugees to Canada.
Following the publication of the #HumanityWins ad this past week in both the Toronto Star and the National Post, The Mosaic Institute facilitated a small group of committee members (see image and names above) met this week to continue brainstorming ideas.
A number of concrete proposals arose from this meeting, which centered around security matters, transporting refugees to Canada and the further development of encouraging Citizenship Canada to quickly move visa officers into active duty within the refugee camps.
An editorial for publication is being worked on that will further explain the committee’s thinking.
