Join the UofMosaic Fellows as they bring together key experts and activists to discuss the overwhelming amount of (dis)information we are all navigating, its impact, and hope for what comes next.
Over the past few months, COVID-19 has become a global issue that affects the daily life of every human being. The interconnectedness of the world through different platforms has also provided unprecedented accessibility to information from the comfort of one’s home. However, this is a double-edged sword that not only keeps individuals informed but can also mislead them and create panic among the general population.
To address this, “An Infodemic in the Time of the COVID-19 Pandemic: Disinformation, Discrimination and Hope” conference will employ different lenses to explore how and why disinformation occurs in the 21st century, with an emphasis on how it can lead to discrimination against certain groups of people. This online event aims to create a ‘think and do’ platform that encourages dialogue to halt this infodemic and instead, use this time as an opportunity to transform the world into a more just, fair and humane one.
